About Us

The KSA came into being on October 16, 2008, and is a 501(c)6 not-for-profit business league.

Much like the existing Harvard Square, Central Square, and other Cambridge “square” organizations, the KSA intends to focus on local issues, such as improving retail options and conditions for pedestrians, and broadly, on helping establish a shared vision for the future of Kendall Square.

The KSA intends to collaborate actively with the City, the bordering residential neighborhood groups, the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, and the existing Kendall Community Group, a business group which provides support for nearby social-service organizations.

The group generated a list of over a hundred ideas for improving, protecting, and promoting Kendall Square.  These are being pursued within several Working Groups which were formed at the meeting.

A Steering Committee was also formed, and representatives of 13 organizations volunteered for it.  The first general meeting was held on Feb 24th, 2009 at Genzyme Center and was a tremendous success. This meeting accomplished 1) the adoption of Articles of By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation, 2) the election of the board members and officers, 3) the initial reports from each of the four working groups and 4) the public welcoming of the KSA by prominent local leaders including Mayor Denise Simmons and City Manager Robert Healy.

All organizations with a presence in Kendall Square are invited to get involved with the KSA.  Please pass the word!  Interested organizations should send an email to admin (at) kendallsq.org.

Warmest regards,
